How to choose the ideal golf glove?

Dexterity is fundamental, and the golf glove has its irreplaceable role for a perfect shot.
Almost every golf brand offers its own models of golf gloves. Even though gloves are marked by size (XS, S, M, ML, L, XL, XXL), it probably won't surprise you that differences between brands and individual models can sometimes be significant. When choosing the right golf glove, you should make no compromises, and the glove should fit you like a second skin.
The wide range of glove models from various golf brands can be quite confusing for customers, so over the thirteen years we have been in the golf market, we have selected brands that we ourselves as golfers would use and can confidently recommend. This does not mean that all other brands are bad, but limiting the offer to only the best on the market made sense to us, and we can say with a clear conscience that in our selection of golf gloves we have no weak spots.
How to choose the ideal golf glove?
Golf glove size. Your first steps should lead you to a store where you can try a specific model on your hand. Each glove is different in width, length, finger length and width, and how it feels on your hand. The glove should not be loose anywhere nor restrict your grip on the club.
Men's golf glove. Women's golf glove. The only difference between women's and men's golf gloves is the size. Even if you hold a size M in your hand, the men's model will be larger than the women's. It is not uncommon for a female golfer to choose a men's model, and conversely, a golfer with small palms to leave with a women's golf glove.
Children's golf gloves. Even the smallest players have a choice of sizes. Most often you will be able to choose from sizes S, M, ML, and L. Children's golf gloves are smaller on the size scale than women's, so a children's size M will be much smaller than a women's size M.
Leather golf glove. The feel is what makes leather golf gloves the most popular. More expensive models are made from genuine leather, cheaper ones from synthetic leather. Golf gloves made of genuine leather are preferred by golfers as their tournament glove. They feel very soft, dry faster, and "breathe" more. Their only disadvantage is shorter durability. Golf gloves made of synthetic leather last longer but at the expense of breathability and less comfort. Synthetic leather is not as soft and pleasant on the palm. Players whose hands sweat more will definitely not enjoy synthetic gloves.
Golf glove for rain. This is something every golfer should have ready in their bag. When rain catches you, it is time to replace your leather glove with a rain glove. This will not only improve your grip but mainly protect your leather glove, as genuine leather tends to harden when wet. Rain gloves are also becoming popular on hot summer days because they are made from material that dries quickly, preventing your hand from slipping on the grips.
How often to change a golf glove? This is very individual, but you need to realize that the golf glove is what connects your hand to the grip of your club. It is the glove that improves grip and feel. Therefore, if you feel your current glove is losing these qualities, it is high time to get a new one. If you are among those players who think one glove per season is enough, maybe deciding to buy a new one will be easier if you compare it to not wearing the same sweaty and unwashed golf socks all season.
You will extend the life of your golf glove by having several gloves to rotate. The best thing you can do for your glove is to change it between nine-hole rounds. This way, the unused glove can dry properly and keep its best qualities as long as possible. Another tip from us is to have gloves divided into tournament, training, and rain gloves. During training, you hit a lot of shots, which may not be good for a genuine leather glove, so it is good to have a synthetic leather glove or a special glove with "reinforced" areas that are most stressed during the swing ready for training.
And now a conclusion on how to handle gloves and what to have in your bag.
- Genuine leather gloves for tournament rounds. Change them according to the number of rounds played.
- Training glove made of synthetic leather or technical material. Ideal for maximum shots played or for players with a strong grip.
- Rain glove. A spare glove in the bag in case it starts to rain.
