Titleist introduces the new Vokey Design SM11 wedges

The next generation of the most-played wedges on the PGA TOUR — the Vokey Design SM11 models — were designed to deliver precise ball flight and distance control, exceptional feel, and maximum spin.
Explore the new Titleist Vokey SM11
SM11’s improved performance, together with its range of loft, bounce, and grind combinations, unlocks the versatility and consistency that the world’s best players expect from Vokey.
“Everything starts with contact,” said Corey Gerrard, Director of Vokey Wedge Marketing. “The right bounce and grind help you find clean contact between grooves two and five. When you do that, flight and spin follow — lower, more controlled trajectories with the impact control that elite wedge players rely on. That’s built into every Vokey wedge.”
🔧 TITLEIST VOKEY SM11 IMPROVEMENTS AND TECHNOLOGY
🎯 Fine-tuned ball flight
SM11 features more precise center-of-gravity (CG) positioning, identical across grinds within each loft. Three progressive CG positions, from lower to higher lofts, fine-tune flight and distance control throughout the set.
🌀 Maximum spin performance
SM11 features three shot-type-specific groove shapes, 5% more groove volume, and a new directional impact-surface texture, designed together to increase spin control and spin reliability.
📌 SM11: FEATURES AND TECHNOLOGY
🛠️ The most comprehensive lineup of Tour-proven grinds
The Vokey SM11 lineup includes 27 unique configurations across six grinds: F, S, M, D, K, and T. This variety allows every golfer to find the best wedge for their needs. Properly fitted wedges help improve contact (striking grooves two through five) and versatility, leading to more consistent ball flight, increased spin, and a better ability to hit shots closer to the hole.
“Wedges need to be versatile, and every player is different,” said Master Craftsman Bob Vokey. “Wedges simply aren’t one-size-fits-all. That’s why we offer so many grind options.”
➕ New features and changes in the SM11 lineup:
- .06 K Grind, which helped secure victories at the 2025 PGA Championship and The Open Championship, will be part of the standard SM11 lineup (58.06K, 60.06K). The .06K offers an alternative low-bounce lob wedge to the T Grind (58.04T, 60.04T).
- New is the 44.10F, ideal for players who prefer the performance and profile of a Vokey pitching wedge but need a stronger loft than 46° to properly gap their set.
🧠 Precise center-of-gravity (CG) placement
In previous Vokey wedges, the center of gravity varied slightly across grinds at the same loft due to differences in sole width and geometry. With SM11, engineers created identical CG positioning within each loft, regardless of grind. This means more consistent flight and feel, with fewer variables during fitting.
“With SM11, the center of gravity is in the same precise location at every loft,” said Kevin Tassistro, Titleist’s director of wedge development. “So when players get the right grind—whatever it may be—and strike grooves two through five, the ball meets the center of gravity at the correct point.”
📈 Progressive CG throughout the set
- In lower-lofted wedges (44–52°), the center of gravity is lower and closer to the center of the impact surface, providing a smooth transition from the irons and reducing excessive draw on full shots.
- In higher-lofted wedges (58–60°), the center of gravity is higher and farther toward the heel, creating a lower ball flight.
- The sand wedge (54–56°) has its center of gravity positioned between these two locations.
🌀 Three groove shapes and increased groove volume
Similar to progressive CG, the SM11 line features three distinct groove profiles based on loft:
- Lob wedge (58–60°): wider, shallower grooves for better debris evacuation around the green.
- Pitching & Gap (44–52°): narrower, deeper grooves for performance on full shots.
- 54–56° bridges the gap between the two profiles.
Spin Milled SM11 grooves have 5% more volume than SM10 thanks to manufacturing improvements and tighter tolerances. This helps remove debris more effectively and maintain spin, especially from the rough or in wet conditions.
🔍 New directional impact-surface texture
SM11 features a new directional impact-surface texture for increased friction and longer contact with the ball. The longer contact time allows the SM11 grooves to produce more reliable spin control on delicate shots around the green. The texture, angled toward the leading edge, also protects the grooves and keeps their edges clean and consistent.
🔥 High-frequency heat treatment
All grooves wear over time, but Vokey Spin Milled wedges undergo high-frequency heat treatment directly in the impact area, doubling the durability of the groove edges compared with untreated grooves. This helps maintain high spin, control and impact control for as long as possible.
“The heat treatment is applied to the scorelines, directly in the impact area,” said Tassistro. “We want to preserve the groove edges as effectively as possible so SM11 players can play their best golf for as long as possible.”
The SM11 grooves are also 100% inspected to ensure the highest quality and most precise tolerances.
