Titleist introduces the new Vokey Design SM11 wedge

The new generation of the most played wedges on the PGA TOUR – the Vokey Design SM11 models – are designed to deliver precise ball flight and distance control, exceptional feel, and maximum spin.

The enhanced SM11 performance combined with the number of loft, bounce, and grind combinations unlocks the versatility and consistency that the world’s best players expect from Vokey.
“It all starts with contact,” said Corey Gerrard, Vokey wedge marketing director. “The right bounce and grind help you find clean contact between grooves two to five. When you get that, flight and spin follow — lower, better-controlled trajectories with impact control that top wedge players rely on. That’s built into every Vokey wedge.”
🔧 IMPROVEMENTS AND TECHNOLOGY Titleist Vokey SM11
🎯 Fine-tuning ball flight
SM11 has more precise center of gravity (CG) placement, consistent across grinds within a given loft. Three progressive CG positions from lower to higher lofts fine-tune flight and distance control throughout the set.
🌀 Maximum spin performance
SM11 offers three groove shapes specific to shot type, 5% larger groove volume, and a new directional impact surface texture designed together to enhance spin control and spin reliability.
📌 SM11: FEATURES AND TECHNOLOGY
🛠️ The most combined grind options tested on Tour
The Vokey SM11 series includes 27 unique configurations across six grinds: F, S, M, D, K, and T. This variety allows every golfer to find the best wedge for their needs. Properly fitted wedges help improve contact (hitting between grooves two to five) and versatility, leading to more consistent ball flight, increased spin, and better ability to hit positions closer to the hole.
“A wedge must be versatile and every player is different,” said Master Craftsman Bob Vokey. “Wedges simply aren’t one-size-fits-all. That’s why we have many grind options.”
➕ News and updates in the SM11 series:
- .06 K Grind, which helped win the 2025 PGA Championship and The Open Championship, will be standard in the SM11 lineup (58.06K, 60.06K). The .06K offers an alternative low bounce lob wedge compared to the T Grind (58.04T, 60.04T).
- New is the 44.10F, ideal for players who prefer the performance and profile of a Vokey pitching wedge but need a stronger loft than 46° to properly “gap” their set.
🧠 Precise center of gravity (CG) placement
Previous Vokey wedges had slightly varying center of gravity positions across grinds within the same loft due to differences in sole width and heel geometry. With the SM11, engineers created identical CG placement inside each loft, regardless of grind. This means more consistent ball flight and feel, and fewer variables during fitting.
“With the SM11, the center of gravity is in the exact same spot for every loft,” said Kevin Tassistro, Titleist wedge development director. “So when players get the right grind—whatever it is—and hit grooves two through five, the ball meets the center of gravity at the right point.”
📈 Progressive CG across the set
- For wedges with lower lofts (44–52°), the center of gravity is lower and closer to the center of the impact face to ensure a smooth transition from irons and reduce excessive draw on full shots.
- For wedges with higher lofts (58–60°), the center of gravity is higher and more toward the heel, creating a lower ball flight.
- The Sand wedge (54–56°) has its center of gravity positioned between these two locations.
🌀 Three groove shapes and increased groove volume
Similar to progressive center of gravity, the SM11 series has three distinct groove profiles based on loft:
- Lob wedge (58–60°): wider and shallower grooves for better debris clearance around the green.
- Pitching & Gap (44–52°): narrower and deeper grooves for performance on full shots.
- 54–56° bridges the gap between both profiles.
Spin Milled SM11 grooves have 5% more volume than SM10 thanks to manufacturing improvements and tighter tolerances. This helps better remove debris and maintain spin, especially from the rough or in wet conditions.
🔍 New directional impact face texture
The SM11 features a new directional impact face texture for increased friction and longer contact with the ball. The longer contact time allows the SM11 grooves to provide more reliable spin control on delicate shots around the green. The texture, angled toward the leading edge, also protects the grooves and keeps their edges clean and consistent.
🔥 High-frequency heat treatment
All grooves wear over time, but Vokey Spin Milled wedges undergo high-frequency heat treatment directly in the impact area, doubling the durability of the groove edges compared to untreated ones. This helps maintain high spin, control, and impact precision for as long as possible.
“Heat treatment is applied to the scorelines, directly in the impact area,” said Tassistro. “We want to preserve the groove edges as best as possible so SM11 players can play their best golf for as long as possible.”
The SM11 grooves are also 100% inspected to ensure the highest quality and the most precise tolerances.
