About TaylorMade

In the spring of 1979, golf equipment dealer Gary Adams took out a $24,000 loan on his house and founded TaylorMade Golf. He rented a 560 m² building that had previously served as a television assembly plant. They had a total of three employees, including Adams himself, and just one groundbreaking product: a 12° loft driver cast from stainless steel. This new “metal wood” looked and sounded different from traditional wooden clubs—and most importantly, it played differently too. The perimeter weighting in the clubhead provided greater forgiveness on off-center hits, while the lower center of gravity made it easier to launch the ball higher.

Adams, the son of a golf professional, insisted that TaylorMade clubs retain everything that discerning golfers considered an authentic look and feel. The company committed to combining innovation with authenticity, always maintaining a passion for the game, and being competitive—working hard to improve. These four principles have taken them far.

Since the birth of the first "metal" driver in 1979, TaylorMade has built a reputation as a brand unafraid to break tradition and push the boundaries of performance. In its quest to lead the industry in product innovation, TaylorMade constantly explores new territory, pushes manufacturing limits, and relentlessly seeks the next breakthrough in golf.

Thanks to a history of revolutionary products year after year, TaylorMade attracts many of the world’s best golfers. Led by Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Collin Morikawa, Nelly Korda, Brooke Henderson, Tommy Fleetwood, Dustin Johnson, Rickie Fowler, Charley Hull, and others, the elite TaylorMade team is a threat on any global tour. Additionally, a network of more than 3,500 PGA professionals provides direct support to players at their home clubs, connecting people with golf and inspiring the next generation of golfers.
