Ping G440 Max Fairway Wood
The new Ping G440 fairway woods feature a taller face profile and redesigned center of gravity, together ensuring more confident tee shots and easier play from the turf. They stand out thanks to Free-Hosel Technology, which enables weight redistribution while maintaining a low center of gravity for a high launch, whether you are playing at a relaxed practice pace or competing at full intensity in a tournament. Ping is thus expanding its family of innovations that help golfers achieve a more stable trajectory, higher ball speed, and improved control—all with a pleasant, muted sound at impact.
Three models for different golfers: MAX, LST, and SFT
The Ping G440 range offers three fairway wood options designed to better meet the specific needs of different players:
- MAX is suitable for most golfers looking for a reliable, highly forgiving fairway wood. It is available in five lofts (3, 4, 5, 7, 9) for ideal distance gapping.
- LST (Low Spin) promises higher ball speed and lower spin, making it especially appealing to golfers with fast swings who want longer shots. It is available in a 15° (3) or 19° (5) loft.
- SFT (Straight Flight) benefits from a CG positioned to promote a draw, significantly reducing slices and helping produce a straighter ball flight. It is available in 16° (3), 19° (5), and 22° (7) lofts.
Free-Hosel Technology and a taller face
In the MAX models, 11.5 grams were removed from the hosel and surrounding area and reinvested in the construction of a taller face (up to 4% taller than the previous generation). This smaller “diet” lowered the center of gravity, meaning that even with the taller clubhead, the Ping G440 fairway wood retains a high launch and easy playability both from the tee and the fairway.
Contoured Sole Design: Better turf interaction
The redesigned shape of the bottom of the clubhead allows it to sit more reliably on the ground without changing the face angle. This means that whether you adjust the loft or lie, the face remains in a consistent position for a clean and accurate shot. This feature further highlights the versatility of every Ping G440 fairway wood.
CarbonFly Wrap Crown: Low center of gravity and a muted sound
As with the drivers in the G440 range, the fairway woods use a lightweight carbon crown. This shifts some of the weight into the lower parts of the head, further supporting stability at impact while also producing a pleasantly muted sound when striking the ball.
Trajectory Tuning 2.0: Precise loft and lie adjustment
The lightweight, versatile hosel with eight positions allows the loft to be fine-tuned by up to ±1.5° and the lie to be adjusted by up to 3° flatter. The result is a setup designed for truly precise shots with an ideal trajectory—including a higher flight or, conversely, a more aggressive landing angle when playing into the green.
Options for filling gaps in your bag
To help players build a set for every distance, the G440 MAX is available in five different lofts. The SFT covers the 3, 5, and 7, while the LST offers the 3 and 5 for those who want their fairway woods in a low-spin configuration. This wide range of options makes it easy to address distance gaps between the driver and hybrids/long irons.
LST: Multi-material design for higher speed
The special LST (Low Spin) version, featuring a titanium face (HST) and lightweight Ti811 body construction, complemented by an 85 g tungsten insert in the heel, combines premium materials. This delivers extreme ball speed, reduced spin, and maximized distance, making it an ideal choice for powerful players with an aggressive swing.
Ping G440 fairway woods represent a premium combination of a taller face, carefully engineered weight distribution, and modern technologies for even easier and longer shots. Whether you need the versatile MAX model, the low-spin LST version, or the SFT for slice reduction, you can always rely on higher ball speed, user-friendly control, and an adaptable trajectory.
