Ping S259 Chrome Wedge
The S259 model builds on the successful S159 series and takes spin and control to an even higher level. New grind refinements and an expanded loft offering enable more precise fitting for players of all skill levels.
Tour-preferred head shape
The compact head profile is based on the requirements of professionals. The shape elegantly “frames” the golf ball at address and creates a clean look behind the ball. The smooth hosel transition and full-width bottom groove across the impact area promote visual confidence at address.
A larger elastomer insert inside the 8620 carbon steel head provides the soft, muted feel preferred by Tour players at impact. The result is precise feedback without unpleasant vibrations.
High friction. Maximum spin.
Wheel-cut grooves combined with a fully machined impact area and advanced face-blast technology enhance surface texture and maximize friction at impact. This means:
- higher spin
- better distance control
- a lower, penetrating ball flight.
The grooves are also milled with different dimensions according to loft, optimizing spin for full shots and delicate shots around the green.
Performance-enhancing finishes
All loft and grind combinations are available in two finishes:
- Hydropearl 2.0 Chrome – a hydrophobic finish that repels moisture, helping maintain control and consistency in wet conditions or from the rough.
- Midnight – dark, anti-glare finish that eliminates reflections and gives the wedge an attractive Tour look.
Grind overview
- B Grind: Low bounce with a wider sole. Ideal for players with a shallow angle of attack and a square impact position. Sits low to the ground and offers ample forgiveness on firmer surfaces. Lofts: 58°, 60°.
- H Grind: Developed from the PING WRX “half-moon” shape. Versatile in softer conditions and suitable for a steeper swing. Supports various impact and hand positions while providing excellent turf interaction. Lofts: 54°, 56°, 58°, 60°.
- S Grind: A versatile option for a wide range of players. Moderate bounce supports full shots with a square impact position, while heel and trailing-edge relief allows creativity around the green. Lofts: 46°–60°.
- W Grind: Maximum forgiveness through the turf. Designed for a steep angle of attack and players with more forward shaft lean. Ideal for those who want the look of a specialized wedge but need greater mishit tolerance. Lofts: 50°–60°.
- E Grind: Eye2-inspired shape. A distinctive relief in the center section of the sole provides softer, more controlled shots from closely mown surfaces. The higher-bounce trailing section adds confidence from the bunker. Lofts: 58°, 60°.
- T Grind: Lowest effective bounce (6°). The most versatile grind, with significant trailing-edge relief for easier opening of the impact face. Excellent on hard and firm surfaces. Lofts: 58°, 60°, 62°.
Complete system solution
S259 is more than just a clubhead. The new Dyla-Grip and lightweight Z-Z115 shaft are designed as an integrated system to enhance wedge performance. The grip is ¾" longer, with less taper for improved control. It features visual indicators for different grip positions, shortened grip length, shaft lean, and impact-face manipulation. The shaft’s low balance point helps improve awareness of the clubhead during the short game.
PING S259 Chrome Wedge is ideal for players seeking maximum spin control, precise distance, and the ability to fine-tune the wedge to their swing. It combines a Tour-inspired look, soft feel at impact, and cutting-edge technology for confidence on every shot into the green.
