Ping G440 Max Fairway
The new Ping G440 fairway woods come with a higher profile hitting surface and a redesigned center of gravity, which together guarantee a more confident tee shot and easier play from the grass. They excel thanks to Free-Hosel Technology, which allows weight shifting and maintaining a low center of gravity for a high launch, whether playing at a practice pace or in a full-on tournament. The Ping brand thus expands its family of innovations that open the way for players to a more stable trajectory, higher ball speed, and improved control – all with a pleasant, muted sound on contact.
Three models for different golfers: MAX, LST, and SFT
The Ping G440 series offers three variants of fairway woods that better cover the specific needs of players:
- MAX suits most golfers looking for a reliable, highly forgiving fairway wood. It is available in five lofts (3, 4, 5, 7, 9) for ideal distance gapping.
- LST (Low Spin) promises higher ball speed and lower spin, appreciated mainly by golfers with a fast swing seeking longer shots. Available in lofts 15° (3) or 19° (5).
- SFT (Straight Flight) benefits from a CG shifted toward a draw effect, significantly reducing slice and helping a straighter ball flight. Found in lofts 16° (3), 19° (5), and 22° (7).
Free-Hosel Technology and increased hitting surface
In the MAX models, 11.5 grams were removed from the hosel and surrounding area, which the manufacturer invested in constructing a higher hitting surface (up to 4% more than the previous generation). This minor "diet" lowered the center of gravity, so even with a taller wood head, the Ping G440 fairway maintains a high launch and easy playability both from the tee and the fairway.
Contoured Sole Design: Better ground contact
The redesigned shape of the bottom of the golf club head allows it to settle more reliably on the course surface without changing the face angle. This means that whether you adjust loft or lie, the face remains in a consistent position for a clean and accurate shot. This feature emphasizes the versatility of every Ping G440 wood.
CarbonFly Wrap Crown: Low center of gravity and muted sound
As with the drivers from the G440 series, the fairway woods also feature a lightweight carbon crown. This shifts some weight to the lower parts of the head, further supporting stability on impact while producing a pleasantly muted sound when striking the ball.
Trajectory Tuning 2.0: Precise loft and lie adjustment
The lightweight and versatile hosel with eight positions allows fine-tuning loft by up to ±1.5° and adjusting lie by up to 3° flatter. The result is a combination designed for truly precise shots with an ideal trajectory – including higher flight or, conversely, a more aggressive landing angle when playing into the green.
Options to fill gaps in the bag
To allow players to assemble a set for every distance, the G440 MAX is available in five different lofts. SFT covers no. 3, no. 5, and no. 7, while LST offers no. 3 and no. 5 for those who want their fairway woods in a low-spin variant. This wide range of options helps comfortably solve distance gaps between the driver and hybrids/long irons.
LST: Multi-material design for higher speed
The special LST (Low Spin) version with a titanium hitting surface (HST) and lightweight Ti811 body construction, complemented by an 85g tungsten insert in the heel, combines premium materials. This provides extreme ball speed, less spin, and maximized distance, making it an ideal choice for powerful players with an aggressive swing.
Ping G440 fairway woods represent a top combination of a larger hitting surface height, thoughtful weight distribution, and modern technologies for even easier and longer shots. Whether you need a versatile MAX model, a low-spin LST variant, or an SFT to eliminate slice, you can always rely on higher ball speed, friendly handling, and adaptable trajectory.
