Ping G440 Max Driver
The new Ping G440 drivers will attract every golfer who desires greater distance and higher forgiveness. Thanks to shifting the center of gravity to the furthest position from the impact face ever offered by Ping in a driver, and a redesigned, thinner hitting face, it is possible to achieve higher ball speeds and more consistent shots. The development considered different swing types, so everyone can choose from several models – from the versatile G440 MAX, through the low-spin G440 LST, to the G440 SFT, ideal for players who need to correct a slice. Additionally, by reducing the overall club weight by 10 grams and slightly extending the standard shaft length, you can more effectively increase swing speed and thus gain longer and more stable drives.
Three models for different player needs
The foundation of the new Ping G440 driver family is a trio of models: MAX, LST, and SFT.
- G440 MAX is the version with the greatest forgiveness designed for most golfers – available in lofts of 9°, 10.5°, and 12°, with a three-position weight at the back of the head.
- G440 LST (Low Spin) suits players with faster swings, where low spin helps achieve longer and controlled shots. It is available in lofts of 9° and 10.5° with the same weighting system.
- G440 SFT (Straight Flight) is ideal for golfers struggling with a slice. It features a 23-gram weight that can be adjusted to Draw and Draw+ positions. It is available in lofts of 9° and 10.5°.
Each driver head is designed for different ball flight characteristics, so you can rely on a perfect balance between distance and accuracy that matches your playing style.
Free-Hosel Technology: A new level of effective design
Removing weight from part of the neck and moving it closer to the heel of the Ping G440 driver allowed the center of gravity to be shifted to a record low level. The result is a higher launch angle, optimal spin, and a significant increase in ball speed off the hitting surface. This innovation, often called Free-Hosel Technology, gives the driver better stability and greater tolerance on extraordinary or off-center shots.
Slimmer and more flexible hitting surface
The manufacturer improved the profile of the hitting surface itself – reduced its height, and at the same time was able to make it thinner, which brings higher flexibility and energy transfer to the ball. For players, this means higher speed and especially more consistent results across the entire hitting surface, including the toe and heel areas. In short, even less perfect hits have a better chance of solid distance.
Lower weight and longer standard shaft
The effort to achieve higher swing speed led to reducing the overall weight of the Ping G440 driver by 10 grams, while the standard shaft length was extended by 1/4 inch. For example, the standard ALTA CB Blue shaft now measures 46 inches, helping to increase head speed during the swing while maintaining accuracy. Other offered shafts (e.g., PING Tour 2.0, Project X Denali Red, Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Black) have a standard length of 45.50 inches.
CarbonFly Wrap Crown: Low center of gravity, pleasant sound
All three Ping G440 driver models share a carbon crown (CarbonFly Wrap Crown), which relocates saved weight to the lower part of the clubhead. This leads to an even lower center of gravity and a higher level of forgiveness. The bonus effect is a dampened and more pleasant sound to the ear upon ball contact, appreciated by players seeking a comfortable feel from the strike.
Heavier, adjustable weights for flight shape control
In the MAX and LST versions, the 29-gram weight allows you to easily fine-tune fade, draw, or neutral settings. The SFT model offers a 23-gram weight that shifts the center of gravity to an even more advantageous position for correcting unwanted slice. This flexibility helps adapt the ball flight to fully suit your swing technique and course conditions.
Trajectory Tuning 2.0: Loft and lie adjustment
Thanks to the lightweight eight-position hosel, you can instantly fine-tune the loft within ±1.5° and adjust the lie up to 3° flatter. This feature allows subtle trajectory changes, so you can "tailor" the Ping G440 drivers to your swing.
Ping G440 drivers represent an attractive combination of lower overall weight, a more refined face, and a shifted center of gravity for more stable and longer shots. Whether you choose the G440 MAX, LST, or SFT, you can always rely on higher ball speed, sufficient forgiveness, and the ability to customize the flight path settings. If you are looking for a versatile driver that will give you the desired extra yards and great control, the Ping G440 driver is the right choice.
