Ping G440 irons
Why higher ball speed and longer shots?
The key to achieving longer and higher shots is a Thinner, Shallower Face. Compared to the previous generation, the striking surface is 9% thinner, which increases flexibility and contributes to greater ball speed across the entire face. At the same time, the iron head is shallower, giving players a better feel at address and making it easier to hit the center of the face for an ideal trajectory.
Low center of gravity for stability and forgiveness
The designers of the Ping G440 irons managed to lower and shift the center of gravity towards the back of the head. Approximately 4 grams of weight were reduced from the striking surface and then strategically placed lower and back (Low CG System, High MOI). The result is higher stability and greater forgiveness on off-center hits, which helps achieve consistent flight parameters.
PurFlex Cavity Badge: For greater feel and solid sound
The innovative PurFlex Cavity Badge provides greater flexibility in the back of the head, supports the newly designed, thinner striking face, and helps increase ball speed. It also ensures a pleasant contact and a muted yet resonant sound on impact. Every golfer thus gets a club that offers great feedback and forgives inaccuracies.
Elegant look and player feel
With the Ping G440 irons, you will find chrome elements on the back of the head and inside the PurFlex badge, creating a premium, modern design impression. Slightly shorter blade length, a subtler top edge, and a shallow face give these irons a look close to player models, while forgiveness remains at the level of game-improvement clubs.
Better gapping and innovative shafts
The lengthening of the 4, 5, and 6 irons by 1/8 inch allows for higher swing speed and thus helps achieve a higher launch angle with long clubs. This ensures smooth spacing between individual irons and improves distance consistency. Furthermore, the number of wedges was reduced from five to four (PW, UW, 52°, 56°), with lofts adjusted to simplify selection and cover a wide range of situations on and around the green. The new 56-degree wedge follows the legendary EYE2 profile, proven for bunker play.
Greater variability is also provided by the innovative AWT 3.0 shafts (Regular, Stiff, X-Stiff). Thanks to the nonlinear weight distribution, the longer irons feature lighter shafts to achieve higher speed, and the shafts gradually "get heavier" in the shorter clubs to help players achieve better control and higher accuracy in approach shots to the green.
