Titleist GT – Simply put, the GT range represents the biggest leap in materials and technology in the design of Titleist drivers and fairway woods.

“The GT series represents a monumental leap forward in Titleist driver design and engineering,” said Stephanie Luttrell, Titleist Metalwood Product Development Director. “The breakthroughs we achieved in materials construction, shaping, and design were not possible in previous generations. All the advancements incorporated into GT work together to create the highest-performing driver we have ever made.”

The new GT series consists of three models. GT2 is designed for speed and forgiveness across the face with a higher MOI setting. GT3 is designed for finely tuned speed and control, maximizing distance and optimizing launch. GT4 is a 430cc low-spin driver designed to eliminate excessive spin and provide a fast, penetrating trajectory.

Every driver in the GT series features an entirely new crown made from a new proprietary polymer matrix. This unique ultralight material enabled Titleist engineers to position discretionary mass in optimal locations for each model, providing exceptional speed and stability. GT retains the classic Titleist driver appearance when viewed from above, with a clean transition between the crown and the titanium body, while the acoustic properties of the proprietary polymer matrix preserve the sound and feel preferred by players. Improved aerodynamics increase clubhead speed, and the new Speed Ring and VFT face design contributes to higher ball speed on both center and off-center strikes. Together, these improvements create an exceptionally fast driver that delivers extremely consistent spin and launch conditions across the face.

“When we launch a new product, it has to outperform the previous series,” said Josh Talge, Titleist Vice President of Golf Club Marketing. “GT had to be faster than TSR. It had to be longer and more accurate, and it had to sound, look, and feel better. GT delivers all these attributes in every way, without compromise.”

TITLEIST GT TECHNOLOGY OVERVIEW

“When we set out to build a higher-performing GT driver, it was important for us to go back and consider every performance attribute,” said Luttrell.

Seamless Crown. Every model in the GT series features an ultralight crown made from a new proprietary polymer matrix. The material, never before used in golf clubhead design, provided Titleist engineers with unprecedented design solutions for internal weight placement, unlocking gains across multiple driver performance categories. The crown is wrapped into the sole using an advanced thermoforming process, resulting in a clean appearance with no visible seam or transition between materials.

“One of our first goals with GT was for it to be faster than TSR,” said Chuck Golden, Titleist Senior Vice President of Club Research and Development. “And the only way to achieve our design goals was to move away from an all-titanium construction.”

“The density of this crown is approximately three times lighter than where we were with an all-titanium construction,” said Luttrell. “By wrapping the crown into the sole, we optimize weight distribution throughout the head, allowing us to achieve significant design advantages for our center-of-gravity and inertia targets.”

When moving to a multi-material construction, one of the Titleist R&D team’s top priorities was preserving the classic Titleist metallic sound. The unique acoustic properties of the proprietary polymer matrix enabled Titleist engineers to fine-tune the remarkable sound and feel while still maximizing the weight savings from the new GT construction.

Split Mass. The weight savings resulting from the GT thermoformed crown enabled Titleist engineers to reposition discretionary mass to optimal locations in the clubhead. Weight was strategically shifted both toward the front of the club, enabling greater speed through center-of-gravity placement, and toward the back, providing stable, high-MOI performance. The center-of-gravity location differs across the three models, allowing players to find the right combination of speed, launch angle, and spin for their game with three unique settings.

“The discretionary mass we gained from the thermoformed crown allowed us to place our center of gravity exactly where we wanted it,” said Luttrell. “How did we distribute the weight savings? We split the mass, isolated it incredibly low and forward, and moved the remaining mass to the back of the head. We achieved incredible speed together with stability through this balanced mass position.”

Improved Aerodynamics. Improvements to the internal construction and weight distribution allowed for greater aerodynamic optimization across the three models, a breakthrough that was previously impossible due to design constraints. GT drivers have refined profiles that help reduce drag and increase clubhead speed.

“In our aerodynamic research and engineering, we study head shaping, particularly the curvature of the crown and sole, to optimize airflow and reduce turbulence and drag,” said Luttrell. “The result is a significant increase in clubhead speed.”

Improved Speed Ring with VFT. The exceptionally fast GT face features two key technologies. The improved titanium Speed Ring reinforces and stabilizes the perimeter of the face, producing maximum ball speed on center strikes, while Variable Face Thickness (VFT) works to maintain consistently high ball speed on off-center strikes, eliminating excessive loss of distance.

“The Speed Ring maximizes COR in the center and, as a result, maximizes ball speed,” said Luttrell. “But the Speed Ring naturally limits the perimeter of the face, which could lead to lower off-center performance. That is where VFT comes in. VFT effectively allows us to selectively thin the face, expand the size of the sweet spot, and maximize speed on off-center strikes.”

Tour-Inspired Graphics. GT models feature new face graphics designed to make it easier to align the club precisely behind the ball. Driven by extensive prototyping and feedback from Tour players, this change helps golfers align the golf ball with the center of the head with greater confidence.

TITLEIST GT DRIVER MODELS

GT2: Speed and Forgiveness Across the Face. The GT2 driver is designed for golfers who would benefit from a fast, forgiving driver on both center and off-center strikes. Players who struggle to find a consistent strike location on the face will experience exceptionally high ball speed across the face thanks to the improved Speed Ring and Variable Face Thickness, together with maximum stability from the GT2’s higher-MOI design.

GT2 shaping has been refined for a confidence-inspiring appearance and enhanced for maximum aerodynamic performance. The clubhead is longer from front to back, and its face is slightly shallower. Compared with previous “2” models, GT2 has a more traditional pear-shaped profile, bringing its shape closer to GT3. An interchangeable rear weight allows control over head weight and swing weight, providing personalized performance and feel.

Like all GT models, GT2 benefits from the new seamless thermoformed crown and split mass, which work with the model’s other improvements to deliver complete driver performance.

GT3: Tuned Distance and Control. GT3 delivers extremely high ball speed together with maximum adjustability for players seeking to optimize distance and ball-flight control. With a new Center of Gravity setting, now positioned closer to the face compared with TSR3, fitters and golfers can choose from five CG positions (H2, H1, N, T1, T2). Optimal CG placement produces greater speed and improved consistency in ball flight.

Like GT2, the GT3 head is 460cc, although its shape appears more compact and pear-shaped, and its face is taller. Compared with TSR3, the GT3 shape is more aerodynamic, resulting in higher clubhead speed.

At the center of all the GT3 improvements is the new seamless thermoformed crown and split mass, which enable higher ball speeds and greater stability.

GT4: Exceptional Low-Spin Performance. GT4 is designed for players who want to eliminate spin—typically above 3000 RPM—to create a more penetrating and efficient ball flight. GT4’s dual spin-control settings allow golfers to choose between a more aggressive spin reduction or a more balanced and stable setting with a more moderate reduction in spin. This is achieved by moving the heavier (11-gram) and lighter (3-gram) weights between two positions. GT4 also has a smaller profile than the GT2 and GT3 models, with a volume of 430cc.

GT4’s performance improvements begin with its seamless thermoformed crown and split mass, with Titleist engineers pushing the internal mass distribution farther apart, maintaining stability with weight in the rear while moving the center of gravity forward for greater spin reduction.
