Fairway woods are a great choice for filling the distance gaps between your driver and the longest iron (or hybrid) you play. Before buying, consider exactly what you expect from your wood. Will you use it more from the tee or for shots into the green? Do you prefer shots that roll out or ones that stop quickly after landing? Most fairway woods are made with adjustable lofts, so it is no longer a problem to change your preferred trajectory according to your current performance. The most commonly used fairway wood is the No. 3 wood, for tee shots and, among more advanced players, also for shots into the green.
